THEY BEGIN TO APPEAR

OPINION: THEY BEGIN TO APPEAR

The trouble with a speech is that no one listens to them from beginning to end with silent attention. Usually someone, (most of us) that have preconceived notions about the speaker will be triggered by our assumption, felt in mid-sentence, and thus will be distracted from further focus. I found this to be the case with pundits of all persuasion before and after presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney’s speech on 6 December 2007. On first hearing Romney’s speech regarding religion and politics, I was guilty of mental interruption as well. As I got back on attentive track, I was favorably inspired with what I heard. I say favorable, since it aligned with the essence of my intellectual understanding of American Constitutional History. This included the profiles of the USA founders and their knowledge of European Monarchial and Theocratic tyrannies, and the weaknesses of future human error, prejudices, and persuasions on our part as well. This worldly wisdom, and in spite of allegiance to varied religious denominations, their common request for Divine guidance-- created our nation.

After I acknowledged my brief interruption of attention, I knew it was fair to listen once again to Mitt Romney’s entire speech without my weakness of forethought coming into play. I did see and listen without interruption, and afterward my understanding of Mitt Romney’s message included agreement with the misconceptions to the Constitutional orders that are being mutated, indeed changed from their original meaning by social engineers believing themselves to be the Endower of our Liberty. One great misconception was the coinage and over repeated phrase “Separation of Church and State.” Those words-- are not written in the Constitution. The simplicity of the Bill of Rights, known as the Amendments, was clearly understood and clearly written by the founders, to order no national religion, (as experienced in Europe and elsewhere) yet freedom of all religions within our Republic. Today, secular forces demand another interpretation, in favor of diluting then denying our historical Judao-Christian heritage, and to make secularism the national religion.

Secular forces in the last two generations have eroded the family structure by eliminating the moral foundation of spiritual guidance that inspires inner strength to parents. This (family) microcosm of civil community, defense and happiness, is constantly attacked by those elitists that have elevated their exclusive power by perverting law. Perversion is a form of entertainment. The Entertainment Industry, (formerly known as the News Industry) is attracted by, and signs onto economically opportunistic contract with this perversion of law.

There have been many nations that had there beginnings and growth upon the benevolence of human understanding, reason and logic. They too enjoyed liberty and peace, and then entertained until the secular forces of opportunity displaced moral responsibility. The wheel of liberty must be held or destroyed, to be re-invented again and again. Speeches by Alan Keyes comes to my mind after hearing Mitt Romney’s speech. Where do we find such good men?
